ABOUT ME

I was born in New Haven and raised in Fair Haven, its predominantly Hispanic neighborhood. Growing up in this community and being brought up by two Honduran immigrants, I learned at a young age the virtues of hard work and the benefits of living in a city that values opportunity for all.

 

I've witnessed the transformational impact of our city's inclusive policies firsthand. From the introduction of the Elm City Resident Card, the first municipal ID card for undocumented immigrants in the United States back in 2007, to my mother's journey as she embarked on her first English language classes at Junta, I've seen the profound virtues of belonging to a city where the definition of community is expansive and ever-evolving.

 

During high school, my work with the youth organization, the New Haven Climate Movement, opened my eyes to the world of local politics in New Haven and the Board of Alders. With the help of the Board of Alders and the invaluable support of our fellow concerned constituents, the New Haven Climate Movement achieved a significant milestone in the fall of 2019 by successfully passing a Climate Emergency Resolution.

 

I am excited to embark on a new journey, seeking to represent Ward 1. Drawing from my past experiences, I am committed to collaborating closely with fellow community members to work towards a brighter future for New Haven's Ward 1.
